The SPCA does it (about $80-$100), but I heard they don't do blood work, or take all the precautions that a vet would. Also, you want to make sure you go to someone who has a lot of experience with small dogs. I wish I lived in your area because I could recommend someone. But after calling around TONS of places, I found a great one and it wasn't as costly as the others.
You are NOT irresponsible!! SO many people think the same thing you do when they get animals, and you are being incredibly responsible by realizing it's probably not the best idea. That is huge!!
If you are able to, I would recommend neuturing the male as well. I heard that in order for males not to get "pent-up frustration", they need to breed at least 2x/year. Otherwise they can become very frustrated, anxious, aggressive, etc.
First things first though, take care of your little girl. She's gonna be fine and your a great mother!! Don't beat yourself please!! You are completely doing the right thing!! Good luck! Keep us posted! |
I am going to call on Monday and see what I can do, if I get Sadie spayed I am for sure going to get Bentley done as well, I have heard that they can be more aggressive when they aren't neutered, he's a sweetheart but he's only 2 and that could change if he doesn't get what he "needs" I'm just really worried about her, I don't have any children, these are my children so I feel for them when they are sick or in pain. I can't imagine having puppies, they seem like alot of work, and I have to admit, I don't think I'm ready for that right now.
