If given a chance I mine could scratch the leather up . Sydney can dig like a mad woman ! I keep a thick fake fur blanket in Sydney's "spot" and she is allowed to dig at that but not the sofa itself. Chloe is to small to jump on or off the sofa herself so she only sits on it with us , so she only digs at a blanket as well.
Chloe did (lightly) scratch my ottoman doing a bull type scratch (she scratches her back feet only puts her head down and runs like a bull
) but it wasn't bad enough to worry about , it adds to the character
