For deep cleaning, usually the vets put Yorkies under local anesthesia so they can fully clean all the teeth. Just make sure the vet has experience working with small dogs, as too large of a dose can be fatal. But usually its fine in almost all cases. It can be a bit worrisome, but with a good vet you can trust, it will be okay.
