I think if this were my puppy and he 1) wasn't liking the food much and 2) he was eating his poo -- I'd switch the food. Iams is not a very good food and your pup may be pooping out some of less digestable ingredients, making his poo still smell like food - hence, he wants to eat it.
Where are you able to get dog food? Just Petsmart/Petco? Or do you have feed stores or premium petfood stores near you?
