In general fluoride is avoided and can be a problem (so toothpaste containing it shouldn't be used) but I don't think the risk is much different than with humans. It may have to be swallowed for side effects to show and since dogs can't spit out toothpaste... However, it is in our water supply, so Ellie gets it all the time. The amount in water shouldn't hurt as far as I know but I would not actually buy bottled water containing it to give to them if I could avoid it. Does that make sense? I'm not sure the ppm of fluoride in nursery water (not sure the safe level either) but I wouldn't give it to them (or a baby for that matter

).
