Yes only albumin can be checked - it cost me $35 each time. I would also check Oscar's total protein every month or so (which was total protein and albumin) for $55 each time. At my regular vet the total panel was about $100 - which would also check white blood cell, kidney, liver, and a couple others.

However, if the albumin is down then the total protien is down, if the albumin is up then protien is up. So I would suggest checking albumin is perfect, unless he is on steriods - then you should check everything every once and a while as the medication can cause other issues.
