Yikes! How can hospitals be laying off workers when there appears to be a tremendous shortage of health care workers? Around here if you don't stay with your family member while they are in the hospital there wouldn't be any care. When our 21 yr. old daughter had spinal surgery 2 yrs. ago she wouldn't have been walked, gotten up to sit in a chair, received her meds, had her bedding changed if we had not been there 24 hrs. a day. I even washed the floor in her room. It was soooo filthy. If I remember right the R.N.s had 12 critical care patients per nurse. It was terrible. Couldn't go to any other hospital because this is where BlueCross and BlueShield would pay. Needless to say the little survey review we had to fill out was quite negative. Not a good experience. The economy is not doing anyone any favors right now. I am sorry that you are so affected.
