LayOffs One of our major not-for-profit hospitals just laid off 200 people, mostly managers and directors. From all appearances they appear financially healthy, investing in very high tech robotic surgery etc. I just got to thinking and wonder if some companies are not using the bad economy as an excuse to contain costs and increase their bottom lines? The excuse the CEO of the hospital gave was "a shift in the global economy". That seemed a bit lame to me. Its scary at any rate. My company said no raises at all this year, not even cost of living raises, as an effort to try to avoid laying off people. What are your thoughts on this?
