Flax is ALA, which needs to be converted to DHA and EPA (what's in fish oil) for a dog to be able to use it. Some dogs cannot convert it at all - so not only do they NOT receive any of the benefit from the Omega, but it can then also make them itchy.
I'm now using Ark Naturals Royal Coat which contains Fish Oil, vit a/d/e, AND borage oil. Borage oil contains the fatty acid GLA, which is super beneficial for skin issues and atopy-related skin issues.
