That's terrible for the dog and the family who lost it.
I choose not to chip Buddy for several reasons. I don't think
it's natural to put a piece of metal under the skin without
consequences somewhere down the road. That's only my
thought. You should be able to do what you want.
I find that our government is little by little taking over our
choices.
I resented using a seat belt and being fined if I don't in my
own care which I pay for. Drove me nuts for a long time.
I do use the seat belt but I'm not happy about it. It should
be my choice.

I know many people feel the way you do, but our choices impact others. If you got in an accident, some insurance company would be required to pay to treat your injuries. People wearing seat belts have far less injures, and treatment costs are much lower. Some people think, big deal the insurance companies can afford it, but remember we the people pay the insurance costs. Same thing with biker wearing helmets, if a pebble in the road, throws a biker in front of you, and there is an accident, that biker would have far less injures, wearing a safety helmet. It's not just about money, but it takes money to treat people after these accidents.

By the way, hope you don't get in any accidents whether you're wearing a seat belt or not!
