Anyone can make up a registry, having a registered dog means nothing, although in the past with only the AKC registry, it meant that the dog was a certified pureblood. A good breeder will study pedigrees when adding a new dog to their line, it helps them look for certain qualities that a particular line has to improve their own line. This really can't be done with any of the other registries because no proof is needed to register the dog. So a registry is really like a huge family tree, with a pedigree being a smaller family tree. |
