Yes, they can swim. I have seen cases where a dog has drowned in the pool. The dog may be able to swim but if he has no clue on how to find his way out of the pool he will just tire and drown.....A couple of years ago I had one fall in the pool and he was so startled all he did was frantically paddle in the same spot. If I had not been out there ( which I always am when they are out there) I know he would have tired and drowned....
