I feel you did the right thing. Sounds like she isn't a well animal. She is probably in pain. Maybe the humane society will take her, clean her up and re-home her. But, if she is that sick maybe having her put down would be the most humane thing to do. I hate to see this happen to animals but, the life she is living right now doesn't sound very good.....except what you are doing for her.
