If ticks aren't a major problem in your area, I would not use it.
I think it is Frontline with permethrin added for the ticks.
Permethrin has been known to make the dog feel like bugs are crawling on it and there seems to be some links to more serious issues that you wouldn't necessarily have as high of a risk with if using Fronline Plus alone.
