I have experience with a 5 lb. puppy and a 30 lb. spaniel. The spaniel just batted the puppy with its paw, playfully, and it dislocated the puppy's shoulder and he was in a cast for 6 weeks.
They were good friends, but because of the size difference learning to play together took some time.
