I do have experience with this....My little Tulip is 2 lbs 4 oz...and we have a large mix dog named Dakota...she weighs about 90 lbs!
She has never hurt Tulip...or come close to it..they absolutely love each other.....Dakota already had experience with our other yorkie Daizy...and she's always been gentle with her.
However your baby is very young...and I agree you should put your GS on a leash...that way you can allow them to interact a certain amount...and see how they do together...if you are worried that your GS is going to play too rough you can pull him/her back.
Dakota seems to understand about the size and that Tulip is a pup...I think dogs do sense that...but until you are sure how they will do together I would make sure to have your dog on a leash.
But I do think you need to allow them to interact together...so that they can get to know each other. Since they are in the same Pack!
