My Roxy is 2y and 2mn old and she was very hyper as a puppy. When my husband is home she tends to wake him up for attention at night. I think b/c he plays rowdy with her and will sometimes rub her belly at night. I did not pay her any attention when she would start whinning at night. She doesn't bother me now. If anything I bother her b/c she cuddles right next to me and when I need to change sleeping postions I have to mover her
But she just goes back to sleep. She goes on her pad at night and doesn't even wake us up with that. But she is very smart and knows what she can get away with and who will let her get away with it. Good luck!
