Severe Pancreatitis I have a 5 year old Yorkie, named Hurricane. He is a member of a large family and lives with lots of kids (ie, table food). He has never had any health issues, but he's overweight. He started throwing up on Saturday, and by Sat night we took him to the emergency vet hospital. They diagnosed him with pancreatitis and have had him on iv's since then. This morning we moved him to our regular vet, and he is on iv's there. His numbers are still increasing, and our vet just called to say that he's doing an ultrasound to rule out cushings disease. I am very upset/nervous and wanted to see if anyone out there has had experience with pancreatits and could let me know if it is normal that the numbers increase after 24 hours of fluids. We all feel terrible and resposible for causing this horrible and painful health problem for Hurricane, by mixing table food in with his dog food. I am praying that we will get him home and will be able to give him the proper nutrition that he needs and deserves. Any help would be so appreicated. Thank you. |
