I heard that Your heart stops because your diaphragm and the muscles near it convulse, causing you to briefly gulp air. This causes the glottis to slam shut which makes the "hic" noise but I wonder if this is the same for dogs (pets) ? When Sami hiccups it is cute.. but knowing that hiccups cause the heart to stop I do get a little worried.. but it stops within a few minutes
