I think it all depends on the dog, and what his/her ideal weight is going to be. Like Bella is 4.7 pounds full grown, and Bernie is 10 full grown. So the weight where I didn't worry about low sugar was different for each one of them. I don't think you need to force a lot of sugar in the water though. Just a little Nutrical in the food is sufficient, and frequent small meals during the day will help (like 4x daily) keep the energy level up. Keep the Nutrical on hand, sounds like you know the signs of hypoglocemia, so you'll be ok. The stress of the rehoming could have caused the onset of that low.
