Sorry, I'm just now seeing your question. I keep cornstarch in a shaker type container with all of my grooming supplies. When I brush out, if one of them has a mat, just sprinkle a little of the cornstarch on the mat area. Work it out with your fingers first as best as you can, then brush. You will find mats slip right out!
