How old is she? Depending on her age, she should be able to go at least 4 - 5 hours at night without a pee break. It may be that she wants out and she knows that if she whines or barks, she will get out. So if she is wanting to go out before the 4 -5 hour I would leave her in the crate and ignor her. (she may whine or bark for a while, but do not cave!)

Also, when you do take her out in the middle of night, put her back in the crate immediately after she does her business. No playing, no staying up, no talking, no treats, just business. Back in her crate and back to bed for you. If your g-daughter gets up, then put yourself and her in a different room than the puppy, so you don't disturb the puppy and puppy knows it still sleep time for her.

After a while the puppy should catch on that waking up in the middle of night is no fun and temporary, and not worth the effort!
