Hey Kelz-Did you get a new puppy?? That's awesome, boy do I need to catch up! Anyway, Scout whines too-we call him whiny britches :-) He seemed (and seems) to do this at random times. Now that he's older (a whopping 4 months old) I think he is talking to me. He does this little growly-bark when he wants to get my attention. He whines and cries when we are out for a walk and we stop. He wants to keep going. It's kind of like a baby who is just getting cereal for the first time and cries between bites because they want it faster..LOL He cries in the car some-anxiety I think. It's just their way of communicating in some form. I'm trying not to "reward" him for the anxiety crying and "lets go" crying by ignoring it because I don't want him to keep doing that. Good luck with your new baby!
