I know that Cairns are probably not all alike in temperament just like any breed. The experience I had with a rescue Cairn male 4 month old puppy was fun and educational for the brief time he was here. However, I would not have wanted him (or another) as a forever pet having my yorkies. He was more aggressive by nature, not mean aggressive though, just a persistence type behavior.
And, with their size I wouldn't ever take the risk that even with aggressive play one could harm my yorkies. He was very loyal, right from the start though and followed us around like a shadow. I do miss his cuteness, he just made me laugh!
Nancy, you're right about their hair, it is so different from a yorkie's silky coat.
I haven't any idea about Wheatons though.
