I have used the hospital pads since my boys were born. They do absorb really well and they wash up really good to. The key to potty training small dogs is to keep them confined to a small area and put several pads down at first. then every other day remove a pad. this trains the pup to go on the pad no matter where it is. Once you've established where you want your pup to go potty you can increase his play area. If you need added help with attracting the pup to the pad you can buy some stuff at the pet store or save your money and if the pup goes pee somewhere other than the pad take a papertowel and clean it up then immediately press the wet paper towel into the pad to get the scent on it. I hope this helps.
