I think your dog with the undocked tail is really cute! I just don't understan how people can say taht it isn't painful. Same with the removal of the dew claws. How can it not be? Cutting through a bone, and meaty flesh? Yucky, poor little guys. And do you take the puppies to the vet and they do it or so the breeders do it themsevles? I couldn't imagine doing something like that to a poor little baby dog, but it's done all the time and it is 'breed standard'. I also think it's cute when they have their tails docked and Thor has his docked.
Originally Yorkshire Terriers were breed to be used as dogs that caught rats in the mines. They probably docked their tails so when they hunted the rats they didn't swing and hit things and chase off the rats. With Brittany Spanials I know that they dock their tails so when they are hunting in the long grass etc., their tails doesn't swing and hit the brush. So maybe the reasons are related!
