If she's still snippy, then she's not ready. A bitch will take a male when her body is ready. She'll stand still and move her tail over to the side and will stick her butt out. Gracie's first time, she didn't take till her 17th day. I took her to the vet twice to get a smear to try and determine how far along in her cycle she was. this time, she took at 8 days.
