The problem with longer names is that it is sometimes confusing to the dog
You want a name that is quick and easily separated from the other words and sounds a dog will hear

A recent example
My Zach came over to me looking at me like .... Well, you called What do you want?
and then I realized I was talkign to some one and had said the word "TRACK!"
