Well, I volunteer at a no-kill shelter, so the animals stay as long as they need to before they are adopted. Most dogs are adopted right away, and a few take several months. However, they ALL find someone. So maybe that would work for you, since there are no "unwanted" animals.
However, you mention that you travel a lot -- I think shelters generally would like someone who can make a weekly commitment for at least six months, so that might affect what kind of volunteering you do. Maybe you could help with fund raising, or build their website, or something like that. |
