Now on to heartworm protection. I'm trying to purchase heart gard or a similar product, but every site I go to wants a precription. Don't get me wrong my fur babies will go to the vet for check-ups and their rabies shots and also their blood tests. But I don't understand why my vet charges $6.50 for the precription!! This gets me a bit upset. I pay a small fortune to the vet now, How about $87.00 for the puppy's last visit and he didn't have a fecal exam, nor shots, or even get a toe nail clipped. They just gave me a puppy pack and a bag of food.
Does anyone have a place to purchase heart worm protection without a prescription?? |
I'm in GA. Here I take my dogs for their vaccinations for $60 including heartworm testing to PetCo. Every Sunday here they have traveling Vets through Luv My Pet that come and do vaccinations and you can also purchase medications and even get microchipped. I have a vet I go to for other things just like when I had to get Mollie spayed. I'm not sure if they are in your area of FL. When I first starting taking my dogs there several years ago. They would travel from FL now they have an administrative office only here in the county where I live.
I get Mollie's heartworm medication for around $20 for a 6 month supply. They may have to do another heartworm test I'm not sure. I also get Frontline there for around $30 - 35.
Hope this helps. |
