Basically I am saying that a breeder, a good breeder, is concerned with placement first and price last. They are making a financial committment in brining these dogs to life and by doing so that helps me have a better understanding for the prices they tend to ask (approx $300-$3000).
So when I look at $8500 from a person (not a breeder) who states they are not looking to place this dog with a person w/o of a "celeb" attitude but have a $8500 price tag for this Yorkie, I cannot that as good placement technique. There are a lot of breeders who do a hell of a job doing what they do but are not charging $8500 when they could have every right to.
From my understanding, they don't because they have passion for what they do and it is not about the money. This price seems about money and not about wanting to find this puppy a good home!
I would like to know how much this person spent for their Yorkie? In 6 months (if they have had the dog that long) what financial expenses did they inccure to justify the price? Where do you come up with $8500?
I am no expert; this is just my opinion.
