My Chip had the same type of skin thing although he did not lose any of his hair. To me it looked almost like Chicken Pox. He would get a little bump with a little blister then that would break and would scab. The vet did a skin biopsy and it was staff. He was put on antibiotics and prednisone. It would go away but always came back somewhere down the line. I guess staph can be hard to get rid of and it can flair up when your immune system is compromised. It got to a point when I notice a couple sores I would call the vet and Chip would start another round of the medication so his skin never got really bad. This was something that we battled the last few years of his life.
