What works best for me with Boo and Gracie Ruth was to yip real loud and high pitched, like a puppy who's been hurt followed by the command Quit. This stoped them immediately and they start to lick my hand instead. As if they are kissing the owie and saying they are sorry. Pretty much now all I have to do is say Quit.
Yogi, however, sigh...my sweet little bumbling Yogi boy, will just do the adorable head tilt thing and look up at me as if to say, "Hey Momma, that was a funny noise. Whys for you made that funny noise?" Then he'll usually try to climb up me to give my face a kiss. The yip does stop him but not because he thinks he's done something wrong. Stinker!
