The Dog whisperer has had many shows on food aggressive dogs. If the dog does not see you as the pack leader he will take over the job. You need to eat in front of him and make him keep his distance, then feed him. You can even pretend to be eating out of his bowl before you give it to him. This will let him know that you are the pack leader and that ALL food is yours, and it is only his when you give it to him.
Work with him on taking his food bowl away while he is eating. Do this safely fo course.
