My 6 mo old yorkie will be spayed on Friday. I'm so nervous. I don't know what to expect. I have so many questions. Could someone plz try to answer them for me: 1. What do I do if she has problems going pee/poop?
Mine never had a problem going to the bathroom and when they did it was a little soft. Having anethesia and pain meds, I'm sure was the cause 2. What food is better, wet or dry to assist above question?
I offered both, I also had their teeth cleaned and Sadie had to have one removed so soft was what they mostly ate for about the first 4 days. 3. I've heard that dogs hide their pain and try to make you think they have bounced back after a couple of days?
Never heard this. You know you little one, if you see her panting, or whining this could mean she is in pain How will I know when she's ready to have normal activity (play, fetch)?
Sadie (the older one) jumped up on my bed and couch as soon as we came home
For the most part she was pretty quiet when we first took her home. After the second day she was back to normal. Lillie took a little longer 4. Do all yorkies have problems with taking pain meds due to "liver"?
Never heard this one either. My vet gave me 2 different pain meds that came in a syringe. They were dosed for each dog. I only gave them pain meds for the first 3 days. 5. Do I put the onesie on after she comes home or take it to the vet and have them put on before I pick her up?
Sadie never licked...Lillie did so I cut a tube sock and slid it on her belly, I left it on her for 2 days. Her incision did open a tiny bit but, after putting the sock on her it finally healed 6. Is a onesie better or should I use a diaper incase she can't go outside to eliminate cuz she is so druged, especially on the first day?
refer to question 6 7. If she doesn't eat the first day or two, is that bad and should I still give her nutri-cal for nurishment?
I did just this. They did drink, which is important but, wouldn't eat...which is normal. I did give a tiny bit of nutrical the first 2 days. 8. Is it better to leave her in her playpen while recovering for a couple of days to prevent jumping?
That might be a good idea! If she likes to jump on furniture it's going to be hard to keep her down. Thank you so much for your help. I'm really scared !!!
I know you are, and so was I...she is going to do fine...(((((((HUGS)))))))) to you and your little one! before you know it this will be all over and she will be home bouncing around like nothing ever happened! Sheryl, Bartlett, IL (PeanutAnn mommie).
