I am not an experience breeder having had only one whelping under my belt, but I did two months worth of research, you should have her check by the vet and then I suggest you give her whelping pudding at least 3 times a day, that is what I was told and has work for my Taffy like a god send.
here's the recipie..
best of luck with the pups and mom..
this is what I was told by a very experience breeder ...
.."Whelping pudding provides your girl with energy, calcium and good solid nutrients while whelping and lactating, it helps your girl with milk production"
and this is the recepie i been using since Taffy went into labor and is lactating the now 2 week old babies..
Mother's or Whelping Pudding.
1 can of evaporated milk
2 egg yolks
2 TBS of clear Karo syrop
2 TBS of whole milk plain yogurt
3 envelopes of Knox plain Gelatin
2 cups of water
2 onz of HOT water to disolve gelatin
in a microwave proof cup, disolve the gelatin and microwave for about 20 seconds to disolve well, mix all the ingredients in a mixing bowl and pour in a plastic container and refrigerate. Feed your bitch 3 times a day.
* I mix it with her kibble for lunch and dinner . and I give her some before I go to bed. she also has free access to her puppy kibble.
