I don't know if it is the same, but a couple of mine 'talk'. My little girl, Robyn, stands about three feet away, looking at you she goes 'rrrrrrrr'. If you put your hand down she will run to you. She wants to be with you all the time. She is a princess and will not jump up or down, will not climb up stairs, etc.
Maybe try a little extra attention for a bit???
