Always look at the parents...but it's still not a guarantee.

One thing that I've learned is no one can guarantee coat texture, size or color. There are always "throwbacks". You can have two pure silk coated dogs that may "throw" a cotton coat, modified coat, etc.

Two standard parents can "throw" a teapot or a runt.

Two black/tan parents can "throw" a steel blue and vice versa.

Always check to see if the parents are a good representation of the breed and try to choose a pup that is at least 12 weeks or older. The older they are, the more chances that you'll know what you'll get.
