Try to think of the crate like there own little dog house make it comfortable. It should not be a punishment place but rather a safe place for them. The idea is to keep them in the crate when you can not watch them, not to punish them after the fact another thing to try is to keep them tethered to you via a loose leash. The dogs just need to learn that everything in the house belongs to YOU not them and if you crate one and not the other they will never learn this? How are they with toys do they fight over them? Do they show any other signs of dominance? If the answer is no is there a possibility that your pup has a UTI?
