2nd questions have you ever heard of giving a dog tums? One of my breeder friends said the vet told her to give her nursing dog tums to prevent preyclampsia. Please any info you guys could share would be wonderful and most appreciated. |

Congrats on the new puppies!!
You can chew 1 tums yourself and than give it to the mommy (gives them the extra calcium), with 6 puppies, she'll need it...1 a day. I've never experienced myself where the mommy chews too far down on the cord, but I have heard of this happening. But if their stomach is open, than I would definitly take them to the Vet and/or even a ER Vet. Have you checked to see if they have a cleft lip, since they are not nursing? Or maybe you can bottle feed them. Good Luck and keep us posted on what the Vet has to say or do.
