LOL. I find it soo funny that people think that these guys running will hurt them.. They ARE working breed dogs. They still have the huge prey drive, therefore, they still hae the DRIVE. Meaning, These dogs WANT to run!

I do agiltity with my dog. She runs and jumps all the time. I skijore with keely, and the vet says she is the fittest yorkie shes ever seen. ANd stil VERY VERY healthy.

A email from my vet, After I heard that excersizing keely so much was bad.

Quote:
"Regular and consistent exercise is associated with improved cardiac function, better immune system, endorphin release associated with both happiness and improved health, and has been associated with a reduced risk of cancer in humans. Your activity and enjoyment with Keely is likely passing these benefits on to you as well.

If you are worried about the wear and tear on the joints, then supplementation with a combination of glucosamine, chondroitin and MSM as well as Omega 3 fatty acids (fish oils) containing EPA (eicosapentanoic acid) can help keep maximum joint health and help repair any damage that running and heaving jumping may lead to.

Also always keep in mind that for Keely, if she becomes tired, don't push it. Let her determine her limit. Other than that - keep up the exercise and enjoy!
