He has probably finally reached full sexual maturity which is why is is marking so much now. Has he been marking for years or has he just started?

Definitely get him neutered. It may or may not help, but it is certainly worth trying. I know of people who have great luck breaking marking habits in males who were neutered late by tying them to their waist so they could retrain them.
