You don't even have to use the carpet cleaning solutions. You can just use Simple Solution or Nature's Miracle mixed with water. There are a bunch of "green" products on the market now too. The water and the brushes are what really work - you might have to go over it a hundred times in every different direction, but it will work. Even when they are housetrained they still puke on the carpet so I think every home with a dog needs a steam cleaner
