How old is your dog? What are her symptoms?

Cortisone is a steroid. The common side effects are increased drinking/urination, increase in appetite which commonly leads to weight gain. The continued use of corticosteroids can lead to immune suppression and the increased risk of pancreatitis, which is really scary.

I wouldn't want to treat her long-term with steroids. Can you give me a little more info about her and her symptoms? I will try and help you out. I, unfortunately, have much experience dealing with allergies in dogs.
