I agree with all the advice here, especially Erin's. I read an article that said to keep them from mauling people at the door, teach them to sit and stay. When people come to the door, tell them to sit and stay. When the person sits down and relaxes, you can release him and give him a treat.
But do the puppy class. And don't get bummed if he's energetic. That's one of the endearing things about Yorkies. And they mellow with age.
