I got Sugar when he was 17 months old and he hadn't been socialized at all. He was just like your baby. He decided I was his and he growled and snapped at everyone else. He was pretty good with my daughter from the beginning but he acted like he wanted to kill my husband. Whenever he would snap at my husband I would tell him no very firmly and put him down and ignore him. That seemed to help a lot because he wanted to be in my arms at all times. Now he is great with my husband unless I am sitting and my husband is standing and talking to me or comes up from behind me.
I'm not the best person to give advice since I never did get the problem solved completely but I do think if I had gotten Sugar as a puppy things would be different. Just make sure he knows that behavior is displeasing to you and as already mentioned a little bribery never hurts.
