After the 2005 recall the FDA started to investigate what happened and that report reflects what led up to those recalls. Hopefully Diamond has a better control on things now. Here is an interesting website that has a lot of information on Diamond:
The Diamond Dog Food Recall, Aflatoxin News, and Pet Health and Nutrition Issues (A+ FRR FAQs)
It is my understanding that Canidae just has their food manufactured at Diamond manufacturing. Canidae buys all the ingredients and in is charge of the quality control.
A little off topic but my sister-in-law had a poodle that lived to be 22 years old and she was fed cheap dog food (pedigree) and table scraps. I asked her the other day when she stopped giving her vaccinations and she said that after age 5 she had no more vaccinations. Sometimes I wonder if it really matters that much what we feed them but for myself, I just feel more comfortable feeding the better foods.
