I wanted to get a yorkie because my cousins had had a couple and they seemed like such cute, cuddly, pretty little lap dogs and I wanted that kind of bond with a loyal pet like that since my cat isn't very cuddly or playful at all. So anyway I ended up getting my little Bailey and she is like no other yorkie I have ever seen. She won't let me put her in all the cute clothes and bows I buy for her, doesn't like to cuddle by me or sit on my lap, she just likes to bite and bark and tear up stuff. I have tried to hard to get her to potty on the puppy pads or outside but of course she sticks her nose up at that and poops and pees on my floors which is frustrating. I love her to death and try so much to teach her things and play with her but it doesn't work. She is 10 months old already and absolutely will not use the bathroom on the puppy pads. Only time she will potty outside is if I take her straight there early in the morning. Sometimes I just wonder why I had to get the rambunctious biting disobedient one who just does not want to be trained, but then again that is always my luck in life! Do you ever just feel so frustrated because nothing you're trying works and all the biting and barking and disobedience is soo annoying you don't know what to do? I wanted her to be a little buddy for me and I got into trying to teach her to sit and to potty and stop barking etc. right after I got her but hardly any of it works and I don't have hundreds or thousands of dollars like all the other yorkie owners I've ever met to just take her to some snooty obedience school or doggy daycare or whatever they have these days. Sometimes it just seems so useless like she is always gonna be so wild.

Hugs to you because I know how you feel. I haven't had the experience with my yorkies but I had it with my shih tzu....still have it a little bit. I almost thought about saving up money and taking him to obedience camp thing, but my frugal side won that debate. Just take a step back and regroup. Try some unconventional ways to deal with the barking and potty training.

I know some ppl may think this is horrible, but oh well. My Leo loved playing fetch and playing with me (but he would pretty much poop right beside his dog bowl if I let him), so I started taking him out a lot during the day and equated potty time to play time. He got the hang of it after about 2 months. I never played with him (or him with any toys) in the house until he started to potty outside.

I pretty much did the same thing when it came to barking. He cannot stand to be away from me so when he would go into his "barking to hear my own voice" routine, I would pick him up and put him in another room. Took about the same time, but it worked.

I have no advice about the not cuddling maybe equate cuddling to yummy treats.
