I feel so blessed with our Tiki. She was pad trained when we got her at 10 weeks. We put the pad in the far corner of the kitchen along with her food and water dishes. She used it right away. I think she maybe piddled on the carpet5 or 6 times and only one time did we ever find some little dried up poopies in a corner. After about 10 months or so, she refused to use the pad but would go sit by the door and stare at my husband. He would ask her if she needed to go potty. She would walk over to him and wait for him to get up. When he was up and moving, she just fell in behind him - heeling. We never taught her this. She just does it and it is still that way.
For a long time, I couldn't see well, especially after dark. We live on a very dark street, so I couldn't take her out at night. If she sits by the door, I twll her to go find Dad and tell him you have to go outside. It took a while but she finally started doing this. Actually, it was training the husband to follow her when she came into the room where he was. Now he is pretty good.
I am trying to train her to be a service animal nd to find him if something happens to me. I have this breathing/choking problem so that is what I am trying to teach her. She is doing well.
Every day or every other day, I say to my husband. "How did we luck out and get such a wonderful little animal?"
Good luck with yours.
