If you are unsure when her most fertile days are, then it would be worth the effort to have progesterone testing done. Even then though, it's somewhat crucial to be able to determine the onset of her cycle. You should have a good general idea of when it *should* start, the rest just takes constantly keeping an eye out and watching very closely for various signs.
Things that you should be aware of and educated on before actually breeding her. Given that she is only a little over a year old, I'm kind of leaning towards thinking that waiting until her next cycle, giving her a little more time to mature and yourself more time to prepare, would be better. Of course, you can still have progesterone testing done THIS time around and store the results away to memory for future use.
